The highlight of my somewhat crappy day.

While we were waiting to see a doctor at the walk-in clinic, located in a mall, Isabel and I decided to play the claw machine that was nearby. I chucked the twoonie in and showed her how to move the joystick around. We missed the big toy, but it was a play until you win type deal with a second machine attached with smaller toys.
Isabel takes multiple attempts at the smaller toys - because really she is only in it for the button pressing at this point. As I can tell I am starting to lose her, I line up the claw with a stuffy that looks to be of reasonable quality and easy to get. The claw catches the small, fluffy, purple bunny by just the tip of his little arm. As he hangs, suspended from the claw, I hold my breath, hoping it makes it all the way to the shoot. Isabel is totally enthralled, calling out "Bunny! BUNNY!" as she sees him moving along in front of us, behind the pane of plexiglass.
The claw opens and drops the bunny. A look of confusion and disappointment flashes across Isabel's face. "Bunny?" she asks. She is obviously getting upset when I open the flap to access the shoot. I try to calm her enough to show her the bunny laying there, waiting for the taking. She finally peeks in and see him. She bursts with a gleeful "BUNNY! I FOUND IT!" and reaches in after him.
During our whole day of doctor visits and running around, that bunny didn't leave her hand for more than a few seconds at a time. He has helped distract her from scratching her chicken pox when I am changing her diaper and has served as a cuddle buddy at nap time and while she watched Mary Poppins. She introduced him to all of the doctors she saw, random people in the waiting room, people at my work and most proudly, to her dad. She has shared her crackers with him, laid him down for a nap on the couch, taught him how to bounce and given him a kiss.
It is amazing how something so simple can make little ones so happy. This bunny, which likely cost a dime to make and cost us $2 to acquire, is her new best buddy. It is so endearing to watch.
