Honestly, I have no idea what I have. I didn't want to mention that I was sick last week because I knew it would freak people out, but apparently I am going to be perpetually sick, so I might as well get used to it.
My symptoms this time are:
~A REALLY sore throat
~Cough
~Runny nose and sneezing
~Temp around 100.5-101
~Aches all over
~Irritability (although this could be pregnancy related ;) )
I have called my OB, but have not received a return call as he is at the hospital delivering a baby or some foolish thing. I am hoping that all is honky dory by Saturday because we have big plans (a Mom-to-Mom sale, swimming and Clay Café time with Dave and the girly). I would also like to stop missing so damn much time since I don't have that many days saved up as it is.
Anyway, that's the scoop. Not a whole lot to report on the regular pregnancy front. Baby is moving and kicking up a storm lately. Dave has felt kicks on the outside several times now and I get to enjoy the acrobatics on an almost hourly basis. We haven't even discussed names, mostly because Dave hates all of the ones I like, but has no ideas of his own, so we are at a stalemate. This too shall pass...Isabel didn't officially receive her name until 12 hours after she was born, so I am not overly concerned :)

Baby Gear...can't stand to fork over the dough for it, but life is a hell of a lot easier with it.
I am not a huge baby gear aficionado. I never have been. I hear the names of various baby-related items swirling in my head when I visit my online community and it is like an entirely different language.
That said, the few things that I have invested in (or my friends and family have), have been a great help. There is nothing that we "need" for baby #2 and there is very little that we want even, but I thought it might be fun to "review" the few things I do have my eye on, as per the reviews I've read online and conversations with friends.
1) a Beco Butterfly. I have a 4th generation Beco (those who have spent any time with us know our carrier well) and it was, hands down, the most used item second to none for the first year and a half of Isabel's life. No joke, because we co-slept, even the crib was used less than the Beco. The only two complaints I had about the Beco were: having to wait so long to use it (4 months approximately) and having to take it off in order to remove baby/disturbing baby while he/she sleeps and you have to take it off. The company that makes the Beco has fixed both of these concerns (it can now be used from birth and you can transfer the carrier from person to bed or from person to person without removing baby) and added a few other nifty little features that have only improved the comfort and usability of the Beco. I think I am going to sell my current Beco and use the funds to subsidize the purchase of a Beco Butterfly.
2) a double stroller that I can use most any place. I would really like to avoid needing multiple strollers, depending upon the situation. The giant double joggers are no good for the mall, the tiny double umbrella strollers are no good for outdoors and are way too short for both of us anyway, much of the stuff in the middle is way too expensive for what it is. I found this guy thanks to a couple of girls on my online community. It is narrow enough to fit through most doorways, but also has rubber tires, which are good for outdoors. It has beds that lay almost flat - good for longer walks, trips to the zoo, etc. I know that some of you are saying that Isabel is too old to bother with a double stroller, but she is happy in her stroller. She likes to ride and watch the world go by. On top of all of this, she is as slow as molasses in January. This is fine sometimes, but less enjoyable at other times. Most importantly, I think she would be happier having a choice whether to walk or ride.
3) cloth diapers. This one is still up in the air. For the last month or so, Isabel has been soaking through and leaking out of her disposable diaper every single night. There are no larger ones, so we are out of choices. I will be trying the cloth with her (I have a small stash). If that works, we will go cloth for the little guy no matter whether he has NDI or not. If it doesn't work, we will likely wait to see if he has NDI before we invest in cloth diapers that may not work for him. In the event that we do go cloth, I have my eye on Bum Genius one-size pocket and AMP Duo large pocket. These come highly recommended, with FuzziBunz coming a close third, by friends who cloth diaper. I would love to save the world and my pocketbook at the same time :)
4) a glider. Now that we have room for a chair in which to nurse and cuddle baby. I would like to have one. Some place comfortable and quiet to do night time feedings (that is when I bother to get out of bed to do them....ahhh...the joys of co-sleeping ;) ) and the bedtime routine.
We will need a full-size carseat for the newbie at around 4 months or so, but we will see what improvements they've made to carseats...by then, they might come with a retractable titanium shield.
The only other thing that we will need is clothes. This poor man-child will have the choice of wearing pink frills or going naked if we don't get him some clothes of his own ;)
Any suggestions from the peanut-gallery with regard to baby stuff for subsequent babies. Information that might help you in your advising: I strongly suspect this will be our last one and 95% of the toys Isabel has are gender neutral, so there is no concern when it comes to the new one having nothing to play with hehe. What did you moms of two or more find yourselves wanting or needing when babes 2, 3 and so on came along?

Karate Kid
Oy vey! This kid is active, to say the least. There are regular bouts of rolling and thrashing. I can't get over how much movement I am feeling. Others who are just as far along and further are not getting as much action as I am. Dave hasn't had a chance to feel the movement yet, mostly because the kid is constantly rolling around and movement is rarely in one spot for long.
I went to see my OB for the first time yesterday. There is good news and so-so news. The good news is that he has decided to follow me for the duration of my pregnancy due to the complications that arose last time. This means I don't have to go back to see my regular doctor!! HOORAY! She was practically gleeful when I told her the news today - doesn't seem to want to bother doing her job. Anyway, the other part of it though is that my OB wants me to be seen by either him or the perinatologist biweekly. Given that most women are still having monthly appointments at this point, this seems like a lot (especially given that this means an ultrasound every month), but I really appreciate that they are keeping an eye on things and we can, hopefully, keep from getting into the same mess as last time.
I haven't taken a belly pic yet this week, but will likely get Dave to do so after he wakes from his nap, so stay tuned.

20-week belly shot while on adventure!
The babe and I hit a local Ikea while in Ontario this weekend for my grandpa's memorial service.
We got a shock on Friday - boy, oh BOY!
We went to our 19-week ultrasound on Friday and got WAY more than we bargained for. Our wee girl #2 has turned into a wee boy!!!
I can only imagine the look on my face as I said "You're lying!" to the doctor. She, of course, said she wasn't (laughing a little as she went) and showed me the shot that cleared up all doubt.

19-week belly shot and some fun news!
For those jonesing for some photos:
So at only 17 weeks and 5 days (i.e. last Friday), I heard my wee girl's heartbeat with my fetoscope (a stethoscope meant for listening to fetuses). Normally, you can only start hearing with that around 20-weeks, so I got to hear her a few weeks early. I became a pro with the fetoscope when I was pregnant with Isabel ;)
She is moving and shaking all the time. I have felt a few little movements on the outside (usually when I am harassing her with the fetoscope), but nothing significant enough for Dave to feel. Also, I have definitely popped this week. I went from being able to wear relatively normal clothes and actually looking completely unpregnant one morning early this week to being well-ensconced in the world of maternity clothes over the last couple of days.
I have oodles of appointments this month. I see my family doctor on Tuesday, the perinatologist on Wednesday for my 19-week ultrasound and my first appointment with my OB is in two weeks' time. Add in the fact that work is really kicking into gear, we are still unpacking AND I am heading to Ontario next weekend with my mom for my grandfather's memorial and it is a very busy month. I hope to get to update again soon.
