It has been a while, but with good reason. First, and most obviously, we moved. As I am sure many of you know, that is a crazy time in and of itself. Add to that the fact that our internet/phone provider cut us off 5 days before we wanted them to and we've been disconnected from everyone and everything for about a week now.
Not a whole lot to report. Symptoms are pretty much the same with regard to the pregnancy...ever-expanding tummy, random wriggling on the inside, fatigue, constant hunger. The last one seems to amuse people around me because I refer to the babe as "The Parasite". I am quite sure that this is what having a tapeworm is like. What really cracks me up though is the initial look of shock or horror on so many people's faces. Those who share my sense of humour are amused and roll with it. Those who don't seem to have a really hard time wrapping their brains around it.
In other news, what is amusing me most lately is the awkward belly glance, but distinct attempt to not acknowledge the belly on the part of those I meet places. It is big enough now that it is noticeable, not to mention the fact that I am having to wear some maternity clothes because some of my other stuff is really uncomfortable. So I will see people for the first time in a while and, as they are talking to me, I will notice a couple of quick glances at the belly. Then you can hear the wheels turning as they process it all and the unease as they decide whether to say something or not. I have yet to have anyone ask out of the blue, so I am obviously not at the point where people are confident, so they just awkwardly attempt to avoid glancing down again throughout the conversation. I think though that I am beginning to grin about the time their eyes return to my face after the first glance down, so I may be giving myself away soon. Hehehe.
Alright, I have a bunch of errands to run today, but here are pics of the big move to tie you over until I post again (sorry to those not on Facebook).

Some things popped over the weekend...
We had Isabel's birthday party on Saturday. It seems a great time was had by all and especially by the birthday girl. Here's a photo for those not on Facebook:

Not a whole lot to talk about with regard to the pregnancy itself. The belly is nearly impossible to hide at this point...by midday it is quite obvious that I am pregnant. I am still gaggy over pretty much everything (smells, being over-hungry, brushing my teeth), but the true nausea has subsided almost entirely....thankfully. The heat does bring on little bouts of it, but nothing like what I was dealing with.
I think the big news for this week is the move. We are closing on the new house on Thursday and moving on Saturday. This week consists almost entirely of packing as far as I can tell. As a matter of fact, I think I am going to go have some breakfast and get down to it.

Reminiscing...
Two years ago today, I got up very early in order to take pictures of the sunrise on the day Isabel was to be born. Unfortunately, my clumsiness caused me to lose my footing and fall on my knees, scraping them up quite badly.
Around this time that day, we called the hospital to see if they could take us in for induction. We went in, the doctor applied the gel and sent us home.
I walked for hours that day in the hopes of helping labour start. I set up a last-minute photo shoot to get that giant belly recorded for posterity.
Nothing had happened by 4pm, so we went back into the hospital to have another dose of gel. We never got that far because during the exam, the doctor broke my water by mistake.
I laboured for 13 hours from that point, so my August 14th baby became an August 15th baby. Hard to believe my wee girl will be 2-years old tomorrow.
As a funny note, when the doctor's intern came to check on me the day after Isabel was born, she got up the gumption to ask what on earth I had done to my knees - she had noticed while I was labouring, but thought better than to ask me then *lol*. I told her the story of the sunrise pictures and we both had a good laugh.

Another symptom I'd kind of forgotten.
Vivid pregnancy dreams. I wish I were having the good ones though...you know...the fun, exciting ones. No, instead, I am having the scary and hideous ones :(
Last week, I had a dream where we were in the new house. The door to the upstairs bathroom was shut. I opened it, stepped in with one leg - kind of straddling the door, you know - to have a look around. The door suddenly flew shut - as though someone were slamming it with force - smashing me against the opposing wall. Our minds (I was there with Dave and the real estate agent) all immediately went to ghost or poltergeist or some angry spirit. In the dream, I was very scared and quite badly hurt. I woke up screaming and I mean petrified screaming only to realise I couldn't scream because I couldn't move. I couldn't even breathe. I was paralyzed. I started hyperventilating because I wasn't breathing properly due to terror and my trouble breathing. I was trying so hard to scream. I just wanted Dave to come help me. I thought I heard him out in the hall, so I started breathing as loudly as I could in the hopes he would hear. It turned out to be the cat, who hopped up on the bed with me, but didn't really help.
It was *awful* and when I could finally move, I hurled myself out of bed and stumbled down the stairs, calling Dave's name the whole way. I guess my voice was pretty scary because he jumped up to come find me. He tells me that I was white and shaking. I was trying to tell him what had happened, but was stammering and couldn't make a lick of sense. He was so shaken by my state that he hugged me tightly and guided me to the couch to sit for a while.
Not fun :(

Packing and Party and Laundry...oh my!
This last week or so has been a whirlwind and I don't foresee it ending any time soon. We have a good lot of stuff packed up and ready to go. I am packing the downstairs like a fiend this week in preparation for Isabel's birthday party next Saturday (I would like it to be the tidiest it can be, just in case the outdoor party thing falls through). After the party, it is full-steam ahead with the move. Sunday through Wednesday will be flat out packing. Thursday is the actual closing, so we will do final inspection then, all the legal mumbo jumbo and such. Friday, the appliances show up and we have to head over to do the paperwork for the moving truck. Then Saturday is the big day! Aren't you tired just reading that?
With regard to the pregnancy, not a whole lot has been happening. My appetite is gradually returning and my nausea subsiding. Both good things. My tummy continues to grow. I can feel the wee one moving about relatively regularly now (a couple of times per day). Typical second trimester stuff.
Alright, I hear the washing machine winding down so it is time to do the laundry switcheroo. TTFN!

Happy Anniversary to us and other stuff...
We went to Moncton this past weekend and hit the zoo and splash park there, as well as doing some shopping and visitng with my family. We had a nice time and Isabel really seemed to enjoy herself.
We also revealed our "project" (including this blog) to our families and close friends this weekend, after the successful ultrasound on Friday. Everyone seems pleased :) I think we will keep it to a smallish group until the 19-week ultrasound - I just don't feel like having to untell more people than necessary should something happen between now and then (especially since I am on summer vacation, so it is not like I have co-workers or students to worry about yet).
In other news, it is our 8th wedding anniversary today. That sounds like a very long time! I think we will be treating ourselves to a shopping trip for appliances and supper out tonight to celebrate, but nothing big. I think we have enough on our plates ;)
Finally, I just wanted to share a reflection from this weekend. It amazes me that there is a human being inside my abdomen. As soon as the little silhouette showed up on the screen I had an intake of breath because it is remarkable. Cognitively, I have known the baby was in there for quite a while now, but to see her moving around in there - waving her hands, kicking her legs, rolling around - makes it so incredibly real. When I was pregnant with Isabel, I wrote a little journal entry that is holding true this time too. The gist of it was that while my unsuccessful pregnancy made me focus on what my body "should" be able to do and couldn't, my successful pregnancies have made me marvel at what my body can do.
