Reminiscing...

Two years ago today, I got up very early in order to take pictures of the sunrise on the day Isabel was to be born. Unfortunately, my clumsiness caused me to lose my footing and fall on my knees, scraping them up quite badly.

Around this time that day, we called the hospital to see if they could take us in for induction. We went in, the doctor applied the gel and sent us home.

I walked for hours that day in the hopes of helping labour start. I set up a last-minute photo shoot to get that giant belly recorded for posterity.

Nothing had happened by 4pm, so we went back into the hospital to have another dose of gel. We never got that far because during the exam, the doctor broke my water by mistake.

I laboured for 13 hours from that point, so my August 14th baby became an August 15th baby. Hard to believe my wee girl will be 2-years old tomorrow.

As a funny note, when the doctor's intern came to check on me the day after Isabel was born, she got up the gumption to ask what on earth I had done to my knees - she had noticed while I was labouring, but thought better than to ask me then *lol*. I told her the story of the sunrise pictures and we both had a good laugh.
