The craziest storm I have ever experienced went over our house between 4 and 4:30 this morning. I have experienced some doozies while travelling in Ontario and Florida, but nothing like this. I am not even kidding when I tell you that the sky was permanently lit and rumbling, cracking and crashing for about 3 minutes as the storm was directly over the house. Luckily, it was a fast moving storm, so that was short-lived, but it was enough to wake both Dave and me, have the cats cowering on our bed and even the dog came upstairs into our room to "be with the pack", despite the heat and the stairs being difficult for her.
The parasite started calling for food almost immediately after the storm had passed (I was counting about 30 seconds between lightning and distant rumbles at that point). I tried to ignore the hunger and get back to sleep for about an hour, when I finally gave up and came downstairs for a bowl of cereal.
I got another hour or so of sleep when I climbed back into bed.
