I am on maternity leave now. My last day was Friday. I have spent the last few days running errands, doing housework, preparing for baby...the usual. I am not feeling "ready" but that is because I am a perfectionist :P
I had an appointment with my OB yesterday at which I got some crappy news. I am positive for group B strep. This is not a big deal and VERY common (it is just an overgrowth of a bacteria we all have in our bodies to which most women are asymptomatic, but in passing through the birth canal, the baby can contract the infection, which can result in NICU time). What does it mean for me? It means that I will be hooked up to a stupid IV throughout my labour. Again, not a huge deal, but it does make changing positions, walking and using the tub challenging. We will manage though.
Finally, the good news is that the baby's head is engaged. This means he is down in my pelvis and could be born any day *clap* Here's hoping he doesn't decide to put it off too long.
